Some History of The Pincushion

The Pincushion opened in July 1971 in Imlay City in a very small building 2 blocks from the downtown.

When the shop opened, we had Simplicity patterns, fabric, zippers, trims, interfacings, etc. and the notions needed to sew clothing and home decor.

After a few years it became apparent that we were not sewing clothing like we used to. Women were busy and wanted to do something creative.

After consideration I decided to become a quilt shop. I found out quilting was much more fun than making clothing!

Many thanks to all the good women that have worked in the shop over the years. They helped make it a success and allowed me time to raise my seven children,
all who are now parents and made my husband and I grandparents of 15.

My current staff has been with me more than 15 years! Thank you Barbara and Dianne. Also helping us whenever we need a hand is Mary Jane. Truly wonderful gals all of them.
All the staff are quilters and are willing and able to solve problems. We love our customers and try very hard to help them in any way we can.

Thanks to my DH (dear husband). He is my handyman and at age 80, I am still enjoying meeting all the quilters that pass throughand all of our regulars. I love what I do and enjoy everyone that stops by to say hello.

We are in downtown Imlay City at 113 E. Third St. God willing, I intend to keep working as long as I am able. Come in, look around and say hello. During the spring, summer and fall months, on Thursdays you can also be treated to a great farmers market.
